On Guild Experience (Discussion)
----

Say a group of friends get together and decide to form a guild. Now they have already gotten their charter or whatever they need to form the guild. Now, the friends decide that they want to do a mostly PvE focused aspect of gameplay. So they are out killing baddies together, having a great time and one of them looks at the guild page and says,"Hey look! We got some PvE XP!". Now they are all jumping up and down happy at this feat and then one asks, "Wait a minute, what does this do for our guild?" Well for one thing, it contributes to something called Guild Titles, which can be displayed in the guild hall and shown to guests and admired by guild mates. It also serves as a gauge of how active your guild is. One explains this to the other and the other says,"Ok, but how did we get this XP anyway?". Simple; you get it by participating in all of the PvE aspects of the game. This includes quests, missions, killing guys, killing bosses, and everything else. Now, this XP will not deplete like the Guild Faction did in GW1. XP stays throughout the guilds prosperous life.

Ok, lets go to another guild. Same as the first, except they prefer a more PvP play style. Now these guys will still get XP, just like the other guild, but it is a different kind of XP: PvP XP. This kind of Guild Experience comes from the PvP portions of the game. This includes; World-V-World, Instanced PvP, and other aspects of the PvP world.

New guild. It decides to, with much consideration, focus on all aspects of gameplay. This generates PvX XP. This kind of XP is harder to get, but you get it just by playing the game. It obtains XP from PvE and PvP gameplay.

This is more for prestiege then anything else, although, you could tack bonus' on to the Guild Titles for each differend aspect of play. The Guild Titles would come with additions to the guild hall, like trophies, and up to carvings and monuments, maybe even special NPC's and buildings.

; Why this is a good idea
* Helps Guilds show off and recruit, without having "Guild Levels" that make smaller guilds look bad.
* Gives Guilds a sense of goals and accomplishments.
* May reduce "average joe" guilds.
* Sounds Good as an extra feature
;Why it may not work out
* Keep it simple (Pve exp only, and forget the other exp options. PvP exp = rating/rank)
* <!-- ... -->
More places for guilds to battle (Discussion)
Instead of only being able to battle in guild halls have giant battlefields where 4 or even 8 guilds can duke it out. Like big open plains where you could mount horses, a misty forest where you can ambush, or naval battles where you fire cannons and stuff.

; Why this is a good idea
* Encourage GvG combat.
* More things for people to do as a guild.
* If its a temporary allignment between 2 guilds vs another 2 temporarily alligned guilds, would be interesting.

;Why it may not work out
* Some guilds may get to powerful
* Lesser guilds may not be able to win as much
Power Build Up for Magic skills (Discussion)
With certain spells (particularly ele skills eg. inferno, flame burst, lava font, ones that dont require a selected target) I was thinking of a different way to execute spells.
Theres 2 alternatives to how this could work:

1. works with "percentages"

2. works in "stages"

...but both work in a similar manner.

Instead of just pressing a button to execute a spell like in GW1, my suggestion is to make a press and hold feature. The reason for this will be so that depending on how long you hold down the button, it will determine how strong the spells damage would be. This process could be represented with a 'loading bar' (similar to that of the bar which shows the skill being cast in GW1).

SO an example of how this would work with "Percentages" assuming that the 'loading bar' takes 3 secs to fill, is:

If a skill is set to do 20 damage as its base dmg, and you have filled up 50% of the 'loading bar', the inflicted dmg would do 30 dmg (50% of 20 = 10 ... 20dmg + 10dmg = 30).
During this loading process interruption CAN occur, However, execution time (motion of the character using the skill) CANNOT be interrupted.

Now an example of how "Stages" would work using the same stats from the example above:

1 second = 1 stage ... when a stage is achieved, then the power of the spell is increase by X amount (whether it be 1/3 more/less dmg). The amount of stages for a spell can vary if needed or be standard throughout all spells.

; Why this is a good idea
* Makes combat more interesting / new take on how skills are executed
* Result in more tactical play
* It can vary the outcome in battle, depending on how effectively you can use this system
* A new feature that hasnt been used in other games (as far as i know)
* Doesnt grant too much of advantage since this would only apply to adjacent type spells. Still keeping the game balanced.

; Why it may not work out
* Doesnt suit the type of gameplay that GW2 has to offer???
* Skills do certain amounts of damage because if they did any more, the spikes they could offer would be insanely high.
* -> as a result, all spells would be nerfed beyond recognition and you basically add a few seconds cast time if anyone wants a proper effect.
