2-piece glove sets (Discussion)
personally, I found it annoying how the gloves in GW1 were just one armor piece. I mean, it would look cool to mix certain different types of gloves to fit your armor style, especially with different armor styles that have objects on one shoulder, but not the other.

; Why this is a good idea
* &nbsp;this could make characters more customizable
* &nbsp;less people with exactly the same thing

;Why it may not work out
* &nbsp;it isn't an important trait, and can be done without.
* &nbsp;may cost more which may promote gold buying for real world money.
* &nbsp;commenting on above, you could say that about pretty much any new item.
* &nbsp;A change way too unnecessary. Just some stupid programming Anet shouldn't do =P
Real time and environment change (Discussion)
I suggest Real Time and possibly random weather changes, real time could be achieved with
1. everyone seeing the same thing (real time the same for everyone, its night at the same time its night for your friend 5000 miles away)
2. Real time with your current time (aka a program in-game asking for your current time and game play changing with YOUR current time)

; Why this is a good idea
* &nbsp;Gives an edge on other MMORPG's
* &nbsp;Keeps the entire game from being repetitive visually (same old same old)
* &nbsp;More Realistic and visually pleasing

;Why it may not work out
* &nbsp;May cause server lag
* &nbsp;May be hard to program
* &nbsp; Will ruin the romance of the missions with huge rainstorms =D (c'mon, y make weather random when u can make it set up dramatically XD)
Expansions (Discussion)
As proved in GW1, not owning expansions is a major disadvantage. I would like it so that you would not have to buy expansions to receive new content such as skills, classes and items. This would not make newer expansions pointless in buying because they continue stories and give new explorable areas.

; Why this is a good idea
* &nbsp;Allows players to be equal to other without requiring expansions in other words not being at a disadvantage due to no expansion.

;Why it may not work out
* &nbsp;May result in less sells.
* &nbsp;Less reasons to want to buy expansions.
* &nbsp;Anet stops selling GW because it's "unprofitable".
<!-- The name of your idea --> (Discussion)
I know that anet is considering a "companion" system, but it would be far more interesting if they adopted aspects of "familiars", the main difference being that the familiar would represent and reflect the character. (I'll admit, I'm ripping a lot of this off from the movie, The Golden Compass.) The major con to this is that it would overlap with things like displaying titles, and having pets, but the familiar could level with the character, could grow or be more substantial when the character completed major in-game achievements. It could possibly even reflect how many times the player has been reported.

; Why this is a good idea
* Adaptability would be awesome.
* Would be a manifestation of everything the player had done in game.

;Why it may not work out
* Anet could only provide so many adaptations.
* Overlaps with title displays and emotes like "/fame".
*pointless (like titles, emotes, dyes, and oh yeah, guild wars) [Comment: go play WoW or somethin -.- don't need GW h8ers here]
*The Companion System was already announced.
Formation
<!-- Add details about your idea here. Try to include examples and be as clear as you can. -->
using formations to move the party around like range users behind, melee users infront
<!-- You can delete all of the help text and tags. -->

; Why this is a good idea
*I see that npc and ownself char stick together it will be easier for AOE(Spells) to hit, that will deal a lot of damage instead we create a formation making character easier to move reguardless of attack from behind or infront

;Why it may not work out
*people that like to use AOE spells(for me-i like it too)will hate this kind of formation
*need not have a formation if a player can only bring one companion.
*The formation can be "handmade" cause there won't b henchmen in GW2.
Vandal (Discussion)
Definition
#A member of a Germanic people who in the 5th century A.D. ravaged Gaul and Spain, settled in Africa, and in sacked Rome in 455 A.D..
#A person who willfully or ignorantly destroys or mars something beautiful or valuable.

Basic Concept
*Adrenaline powered spells, energy powered attacks, half range attacks, hybrid. Absolutely no enchantments.
*A cross between a ranger and a Mesmer (in a weird sort of way..)
*In concept, a cross between a barbaric warrior and a tribal shaman.
*Spells rely on adrenaline, so you must attack or be attacked to cast.
*Weapon skills all require energy.
*The Vandal gets more "ammunition" (energy/adrenaline) the more it is attacked.
*Stances take the place of enchantments, being powerful but unstackable.

Equipment
*The throwing axe: attack speed equivalent of a wand/staff, but half-range. Roughly half the GW1 aggro bubble. DPS similar to a ranger's shortbow and a warrior's axe.
*Focus Item: same as casters. Extra energy and such. A focus for each skill-line (War, Guile, Fanaticism).
*Wands/Staffs: same as casters. A staff/wand for each skill-line (War, Guile, Fanaticism).
*70 armor with +30 vs elements, 3 energy regen pips total (same as ranger).

Skills
I've made some random skills to try and give the flavor of the class. They are roughly balanced, but I'm sure some are exploitable/unbalanced.
:Note, when I don't specifically state a recharge or casting time, that doesn't mean it's instant. It just means "whatever recharge time helps balance the skill".

Throwing Mastery
:All skills require energy, no adrenaline skills.
*Quick Toss: Attack Skill. 5 energy, +2...14 damage, 0 recharge.
*The Chase: Stance. 5 energy, doubles attack range, -25% slower attack speed. +5%...33% damage. You move 25% faster.
*Rib Splitter: Attack Skill. 10 energy, +1...37 damage, double damage if foe's health is below 50%. Causes exhaustion.
*Unnamed: Attack Skill. 5 energy, this axe travels twice as fast and cannot be blocked. +1...14 damage.
*Shaman Throw: Attack Skill. 5 energy, if this attack hits an enchanted foe, that foe is dazed for 1...4 seconds. Causes exhaustion.
*Wild Throw: Attack Skill. 5 energy, this axe cannot be blocked and ends your target's stance.
*Mage Bane Throw: Attack Skill. 5 energy, +5...20 damage, if this attack hits an enchanted foe, 1 enchantment is stripped and YOU lose 10 energy.
*Berserker Signet: Signet. 1 second cast, 20 second recharge. For 10 seconds you deal +33% damage but have -80...20 armor.
*Gypsy Throw: Attack Skill. 10 energy, this axe travels twice as fast and cannot be blocked. Target's action is interrupted.
*Heavy Arm: Stance. 5 energy, for 3...60 seconds, if any of your attacks are blocked, the target is interrupted.
*Unforgiving Throw: Elite Attack Skill. 10 energy, target foe is dazed for 6...13 seconds. If this attack is blocked, target foe suffers a deep wound and bleeding for 5...17 seconds.

Way of War
:Enhances the Vandal in physical warfare. Lots of shouts/chants, a few spells.
::Note, shouts would all be from the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc alphabet, or some other seemingly tribal/shamanistic language. I have (roughly) named some of the shouts.
*Strength of the Ox: Chant. 8 adren, your next attack skill inflicts deep wound for 1...12 seconds.
*Unnamed: Chant. 4 adren, your next attack skill inflicts cripple for 3...10 seconds.
*Healing Salve: Spell. 6 adren, heal self for 50...150
*Unnamed: Chant. 4 adren, the next time you take damage over 10% of your maximum health, all adjacent foes take 8...90 cold damage.
*"Beorcrad!": Shout. 6 adren, target foe takes 5...30 earth damage. Target foe suffers an additional 5...60 earth damage if moving.
*"Tyrken!": Shout. 8 adren, target foe is dazed for 1...2 seconds. You are blinded for 2...0 seconds.
*"Kenos!": Shout. 10 adren, target foe is interrupted.
*Unnamed: Chant. 4 adren, the next time you take damage, you are healed for 10...45 points.
*Unnamed: Elite Chant. 3 adren, the next time you take damage, you are healed for 10...95 points.
*"Ishaegl!": Shout. 4 adren, target foe takes 18...60 cold damage.
*"Urtyr!": Shout. 12 adren, lose all adrenaline. Target foe suffers from deep wound for 5...17 seconds and takes 20...91 earth damage.
*"Yereoh!" Shout. 10 adren, for 28 seconds, you gain 12...90 health every 7 seconds.
*Fervor: Stance. 15 energy, lasts 60 seconds. The effects of Fanaticism are doubled. Lose 19...10 health each second.

Way of Guile
:Shamanistic/tribal/voodoo/gypsy curses, tricks, and deceptions.
*Unnamed: Hex. 10 adren, target foe loses 1...5 energy a second for 10 seconds.
*Unnamed: Hex. 12 adren, target foe suffers -10 degeneration while moving. Lasts 3...20 seconds.
*Unnamed: Spell. 2 adren, 1/4 second cast time, if you are below 4%...33% health, all adjacent foes are blinded for 2 seconds.
*Unnamed: Hex. 8 adren, target foe takes twice as long to cast spells for 3...14 seconds.
*Unnamed: Spell. 10 adren, you suffer from crippling for 30...10 seconds but gain 5...30 health a second for 10 seconds.
*Unnamed: Spell. 3 adren, sacrifice 10% maximum health. For 5...20 seconds gain 1..5 health regeneration.
*Unnamed: Hex. 10 adren, for 1...18 seconds, target foe's attacks have a 25% chance to miss. Every time they fail to hit you gain 1 adrenaline.
*Unnamed: Hex. 4 adren, lasts 1...9 seconds, if this hex is removed before its full duration, the target is dazed for 1...2 seconds.
*Unnamed: Elite Hex. 12 adren, for 4...30 seconds, target foe's spells are easily interruptable.
*Unnamed: Spell. 5 adren, target foe loses 3...6 energy.
*Unnamed: Spell. 3 adren, you begin bleeding for 10 seconds. Lose one hex and all adrenaline.
*Unnamed: Spell. 4 adren, transfer a hex from yourself to target foe. Lose all adrenaline and 30...10 energy.
*Unnamed: Hex. 2 adren, target foe suffers from 1...3 health degeneration for 6...25 seconds.

Fanaticism (Primary)
:Small number of unique skills attributed to it, but the primary effect is benefiting when hexed or conditioned.
Passive effect:
::For every 3 points in Fanaticism, you gain 1 energy whenever you gain a hex or condition.
::For every 5 points in Fanaticism, you gain 1 strike of adrenaline when you gain a hex or condition.
Alternative Idea:
::For every 4 points in Fanaticism, gain 1 strike of adrenaline upon casting a spell.
*Meditation: Stance. 10 energy, for 8...90 seconds, you gain +1 energy regeneration but -2 health degeneration.
*Body Cleansing: Spell. 2 adren, you lose all energy. You gain 1...5 points of health per energy lost.
*Pagan Fury: Stance. 10 energy, for 4...16 seconds, you gain double adrenaline. Lose all adrenaline when this stance ends.
*Envy: Spell. 5 adren, if target foe has more energy than you, gain 1...8 strikes of adrenaline.
*Mantra of Focus: Stance. 15 energy, for 30...90 seconds, every time you hit with an attack skill you gain 0...4 energy.
*Mantra of Pain: Stance. 15 energy, for 30...90 seconds, every time you take damage, you gain 0...2 energy.
*Mantra of Fury: Stance. 15 energy, for 30...90 seconds, every time you take damage, you gain 0...2 strikes of adrenaline.

Gameplay
:There are lots of strategies to play around with, I will list some.
*Shouts are instant, you can use them to make precisely timed combos.
*Chants and attack skills often interact, finding good synergies is key.
*Finding the right balance between the attributes (Guile, War, Throwing and Fanaticism)
**Guile and Fanaticism would make a shaman/caster build.
**War and Throwing would make a powerful killing machine.
**Throwing and Fanaticism could be combined to keep energy high and spam attack skills.
**Guile and Throwing could combine hexes with attack skills to disable and kill targets.
**A War and Guile combination could make use of War's healing and damaging shouts in combination with Guile's disabling power.
**Also, a 3 way split combo would be solid as well (with the right skillbar).
*Using weaponry other than the throwing axe
**to extend your range (ie wand/staff, shortbow)
**to build adrenaline faster (ie dual weapons)
*Multi-classing. All the attributes (Save Fanaticism) would make the Vandal a powerful secondary class.

; Why this is a good idea
*Fairly original
*Fun to play
*Complexity
*Adrenaline based spells could b a new, and nice way of playing ^^
;Why it may not work out
*Skills could create exploits with class combinations
*Reversal of energy and adrenaline too confusing
*Damage shouts could be exploited in large groups for spike damage (You could put a short delay on the shout, ie "after 3 second, target foe takes X damage", that way multiple of the same shout couldn't be stacked at once.)
*Complexity.

A built-in calculator would be a nice feature, especially if it comes with a notepad.

; Why this is a good idea
*&nbsp;Useful to those players who frequently make calculations (such as number of monsters they need to kill to gain their next level, or how many sweets they need to consume to max Sweet Tooth, etc. I used GW1 examples but I have no doubt there will be many things to calculate in GW2.)
*&nbsp; Yes ,this would be good for any game calculations such as if they spend money on something, how much they will have left in the bank.
*&nbsp; Some people cant be bothered learning how to add or multiply.
;Why it may not work out
*&nbsp; Most computers have a calculator program standard, and isn't that what pen and paper is for?
*&nbsp; And that's y u should listen in math lessons kids =D
<!-- The name of your idea --> (Discussion)
This menthod of paying to invite somone into your guild isn't a good one if you ask me because it means guilds develep much slower and lets poeple scam you 100 gold by getting you to invite them and then joining anouther guild.w
I think if we are going to make the world of guild wars a better place for new players and poeple who want to get a guild in good shape without having to spend platnuim after platnuim just to get their guild GvG worthy, i don't think its worth it. also i think we should have a bigger ranking system so mare then just member and officer.
; Why this is a good idea
*i think this is a good idea because ti will stop people (like me) despareing in the game and will let a biggar selection of guild to chose or fight.

;Why it may not work out
*The only reason this might not work is because some really rich player can;t bare the thought of not being the best come along and make poeple pay to get in his guild.
*It'd remove a very, very small gold sink for no reason. 100 gold is nothing, and if you fail at getting a guild running, you aren't whorty to have one.
*Members that come 4 free, go 4 free =P

Allow Guild Renaming
Many people make guilds which for various reasons (e.g. merging with another guild, deciding they don't want to lead a guild after all, etc.) they don't need later. So they try to sell the guild. But the main thing people want in a guild is its name (the rest can be bought in game). If guilds could be renamed by their leader then those investments in guild NPCs would be better protected. Guilds could be sold more easily, fewer people would lose money on guilds, and fewer new guilds would be made. Renaming of guilds would be better if guild territory could also be changed or if the concept of territories (as in GW1) was scrapped altogether so that all guilds were either global or GW2 continent based.

;Why this is a good idea
* &nbsp; It would allow spelling errors to be corrected.
* &nbsp; It would mean guilds could be recycled rather than new ones being made.
* &nbsp; It would encourage guild mergers, as unneeded 'full hall' guilds could be sold more easily.
* &nbsp; It would save server resources.
* &nbsp; It could be a way for ANet to raise real money, if guild renames were available from the online shop.

;Why it may not work out
* &nbsp; A restriction on renaming a guild while it is involved in a Xunlai contest may be necessary.
* &nbsp; Stopping the leakage of in-game gold through the scrapping of guilds could affect the economy. In this case an in-game fee could be charged for renames by the guild registrar npcs.
* &nbsp; A guild should b something meaningful, think of a good name b4 u have 2 change it -.-
Guild Hall Town (Discussion)
My idea is to greate a sort of a town where players will be "teleported" when they hit the "Guild Hall" button.
This town will have gates which will lead to diffrent types of guild halls.
At each gate, there will be a Guard who will let you visit the guild hall behind the gate but you can't do anything else to it, unless you have purchased it.
If your guild is in an alliance you can access the other guild halls types own by the other guilds from your alliance.
In this town players can find all the NPS that are now available to purchase in GW1 Guild Hall and are for general use like merchants, rune traders, dye trader, etc.
For your own Guild Hall, you can only purchase a specialized "storage chest" and diffrent accesories for visuals use
Guild battles and Alliance battles will be accessible only from a GH turnament NPCs
In this town players from diffrent guilds can meet and engage in 1v1 battles by selecting each other like in the "trade' sessions. Also, players from diffrent guilds can form partys and start a fignt.
Guild Hall Town must be acessible for all players even if they are in guilds or not, but the services should be opened only to players from guilds.
1v1 and party Fights should be be acessible for all players even if they are in guilds or not
Also, in Guild Hall town will be NPS giving quests to access oter arias like Random arena, Hero battle, Chalanges, etc.

; Why this is a good idea
* &nbsp;reduces the amount of farming for money just to have a fully equiped guild hall. Players may choose to have simple looking guild hall or a very luxurious one.
* &nbsp;players can meet occasionaly and form better alliances or just start a fight with their friends from diffrent guilds - reduces some of the random battles.
* &nbsp;makes it easy for guilds to recruit new members only from those who want to be in a guild for PVP. Recruiting PvE players will be done in the game towns or outposts.
* &nbsp;guildless players can choose to join a guild after seeing its Guild Hall and this way he will have less intentions to leave the guild later.

;Why it may not work out
* &nbsp;leaders will try to form allaince with guilds that own diffrent types of guild halls or just the same one
* &nbsp;players will try to sell in this town diffrent items to other guilds which will raise the prices and guildless players will not be able to buy them

;Don't get it -.-
* &nbsp; You mean you simply wanna transfer some of the guild hall's meanings into a battle isles replica? =S if yes, than it's just over-working 4 nothing -.-
More ways to wear your Guild Emblem (Discussion)
There should be more ways to wear your Guild Emblem in game;
* A medallion
* Shoulder markers
* Tattoos
* Arm/wrist bands
* On armour

; Why this is a good idea
* &nbsp;Some people don't like capes
* &nbsp;Additional customisation
* Wearing your guild emblem in style
*Another excellent customization idea. One thing that players are always looking to do is create an original look for their character that sets them apart from the rest of the community. Among other ideas listed, this one will allow a player to retain his/her tributary marker that defines their allegiance yet still let them choose what kind of an image they want to portray. (Example: Innocent looking monk lady = necklace with guild medallion :: Hardcore warrior = Tats up and down his arms/on his neck :: Mysterious assassin = guild symbol emblazoned on his back :: Heroic crusader = devout cape-wearing fighter.) 98.224.9.119 07:27, 25 October 2008 (UTC) Please Anet, consider this.
* Guilds can have events of showing off, making all members look like the guild emblem, which, if not abused, really is cool, just 4 short periods of time.

;Why it may not work out
* &nbsp; In PvP visibility is an issue - perhaps force a visible alternative here?
* &nbsp;we will see many characters with the same emblem on armour, even if they are from diffrent guilds
Idea (Discussion)
* For the Guild-wide Storage Boxes, its common in guilds (or at least in mine) to pretty much randomly give stuff to other people. And I don't mean giveaways; I mean that we are just trying to help each other out. In this way, people could just drop off stuff they don't want and let other people look and/or take it.
* &nbsp; As for the Guild Hall Skill trainer...could we make it any skill you've unlocked instead of just "core" skills? Assuming that you coudl get skills in a similar style as the current setup, it would be easier for those of us who PvP a lot, or who buy skills on one character and later need it on another who isn't in the same campaign and that would have issues getting there (ie, wanting soemthing like Vampiric Horror at the ruined Ascalon City as a current-game example).

; Why this is a good idea
* &nbsp;

;Why it may not work out
* &nbsp; For the guild storage, some people will inevitably be vultures and just take it and sell it. That's bad.
* &nbsp; Could make some of the earlier parts of the game too easy, which would probably suit some of us fine.
* Storage boxes will be leeched off of, no exceptions. Some seven-year-old loser will come into your guild and steal all your crap.

Guild Storage
Actually, there is a way to keep leechers out of this. I have mentioned and received positive feedback from my fellow guild members about the possibility of guild storage (purchased as an amenity like all else) for guilds to use to help members, store prizes & gold for events, etc. The members who heard this idea and questioned me on it thought it was a terrific idea and made me promise to follow through on it. In my idea, Guild Storage would be the same as the regular player storage with the following exceptions:

1. Any guild member can put items and/or gold into the locker.

2. Items and gold put into Guild Storage would be considered to be DONATED to the guild. This means they are no longer the property of the person who put them into the Guild Storage in the first place. While they can always ask for the return of an item, it is by no means a guarantee they will get it. This should also lead to careful usage.

3. Only the guild leader and officers designated by the guild leader would be permitted to remove anything once it was placed in guild storage. To make things easier, one could even limit the amount of officers that could be so designated by the leader.

The benefits are numerous:

1. Guilds would have access to items to help newer players/members more often.

2. Officers and leaders would not have to store everything themselves, thus freeing up their storage space.

3. The limited ability for removal from guild storage would make people think twice about putting something in it they wanted, or might want back.

4. It would be easier for guilds to host events, as everything would be right in one place. It could be gathered over time and kept for events. Anything not used during an event would still be kept and able to be utilized for the next one. This would promote more player/guild/alliance interaction and encourage guilds to host events more often and players to attend, as they can take a look at some of the items that might be prizes (even if they can’t take them out of Guild Storage themselves).

This is the bare bones of the idea I had, in a nutshell. There are more details, of course, and I would be happy to expound upon them as needed or requested. Respectfully, Kyly 01:11, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

; Why this is a good idea
* &nbsp; This makes this guild storage a pretty good idea ^^
Your own guild's HoM (Discussion)
Got the idea cause one of my guild members has reached the max "kind of a big deal title" That actually is a big deal so guess he deserves a statue in the guild hall.

; Why this is a good idea
* &nbsp;Guilds should be more social and members should know that they got a good player in their guild.

;Why it may not work out
* &nbsp;A guild hall cant have a 1000000 statues so tht might be a problem.

;Suggestions:
* what if the statues shown were controlable by the leader of the guild? it could install somewhat of an honor system into the guild such as if say the leader of a guild was proud of one of its members for completing a quest or title or even maybe a consolation prize for contributing to the guild in some way shape or form.
* instead of a hall, the members could buy statues that represent the guild members' achievements, the more players that achieved the statue's thing, the better and/or bigger it looks.
Gods and Guilds (Discussion)
What this involves is the idea that a guild can dedicate itself to a god, for example a guild might wish to dedicate themselves to Lyssa and because of this they can receive unique equipment for their guild, mirrors etc a Balthazar dedicated guild might get fire pits or war dogs. This additions wouldn't affect GvG they would just look cool. I want my Guild Hall to be unique. The level of dedication would be dictated by either how much gold the guild dedicated or if they did missions and quests for their god. The higher the dedication, the better looking the guild, even perhaps the guild members. A guild that has dedicated their every effort to Grenth might have a dark glow about them when grouped together in public spaces.

; Why this is a good idea
* This allows for another dimension of custom gaming. It can be applied in many different ways.
* &nbsp;

;Why it may not work out
* &nbsp; The way in which earning a God's dedication isn't quite clear, but I'm sure someone in Arenanet can work that out.
* &nbsp; The only thing that is a problem is balthazar factions XD but I'm not sure if they'll have em in GW2 =S
Guilds maybe the smaller they are get special resources, two types of resource, online and offline, that differs depending on peoples current profession combonation or Aura/Scion slot.
Guilds should have custamizable halls/dungeons with both costmetic and PVP bsttle changes. Guilds should have territory types, which determine its NPC faction,Ranking, and its purpose in the Guild Netwrok. The Guild network is like a game, of rock-paper- scisoors, that ias affected by the matches lsot or won, and the type of match, the Guild Network extends to the World network, and then the Universal Network. Network favor of a territory AND Faction type gives that juristion special benefits. Online resource benefitd equal actual accomplishments in-game, offline= resources/special benefits for your guild to use.

147.236.33.231: /* Making rare items "rare" (Discussion) */

Making rare items "rare" (Discussion)
In Guild Wars, "unique" items usually lose any "unique-ness" after some time of being introduced due to the virtual unlimited availability of them to the game. In this regard, Guild Wars 2 could introduce the concept of rare items by making them effectively "rare". A good point of comparison for this are GW1 minipets, where "rare" minipets such as the Panda are available, and also "unique" minipets such as The Frog exist.<br>One way of implementing this concept in-game could be:
*Limiting the availability of rare items to a certain number (uniques to 1), and making the limit game-wide.
*Putting a limit to the number of uses or the amount of time these rare or unique items could be used, in order to avoid rare items being monopolized. This could also allow the creation of "balance breaking" items, since they would not be available long enough to be abused.
**Other alternative to the previous one could be introducing "events" that could remove such items from the owner randomly.
*Putting a limit to the time these items could be possessed each time by a single user, in order to avoid rare items being "lost" due to inactive accounts.
*Once a rare or unique item has it's time or useability limit expired, it would become available again to be attained. This in order to ensure that new players and old players all have a chance of getting their hands on them.
*Ensuring that no rare or unique item shares it's effect with other items in-game. This would finnaly ensure that unique or rare items cannot be functionally fully replaced by an easily accesable alternative.

; Why this is a good idea
* Would reward users by giving them access to rare items that are actually "rare", instead of just being "not common in skin" as in GW1.
* Would enable the introduction to the game of unique items that are actually "unique".
* Would ensure that everyone has a chance of attaining such rare or unique items.

;Why it may not work out
* Since the limit would be game-wide, the detection and removal of expired items could be a high-resource consuming task, server-wise.
* Guildwars is about skills and the use of skills: distinctly more powerful items would be unfair to people who might not get them. Using the above example, there are only fifty panda minipets in the entire game: most people are never going to own one.
* Would be a waste of programming time to program something that only 1 in a million players will actually be able to use. If each player should be able to get one unique item, that means a huge amount of programming as well as server and computer space, which just is not worth it.
* Unique items r unique because of their names, let's keep it that way ^^ making them really unique is just too much! it's like making the last boss of the game "unique" so only 1 party can fight him! what's the point of it???

<!-- Classifieds --> Classifieds(Discussion)
Alot of people have suggested shops for offline trade, seeing as many of us would rather be adventuring than spamming "WTS" in-town. I suggest a "Classifieds Ads" system.

;How it would work
For a small fee, you can post an ad in the directory, which will have several categories, such as wanted, offered, services (ex.: running).
The directory is available to all players for free - kind of like the "Party Search" in GW1, exept global - and is accessed through an NPC or item. The directory would have a search system, so that if you were looking, for example, to buy item x you wouldn't have to look through thousands of other adverts. Having found the item/service desired, you leave a message to the player, using that player's "account name". The responses would be available through the character selection screen.

The actual advertisements would be formatted automatically depending on the category they are placed in. A "Item for sale" advert would have an inventory slot to see the actual stats of the item and an asking price, and an "item for item trade possible" box which could be checked. An "item wanted" would have the desired stats of the item as well as price range. The "service" category would have a description of the service and asking price. Guild adverts would automatically have guild faction alignment and alliance listed, as well as a short description. You get the idea.

;Why this is better than a shop system
* A shop system would be disasterous to the Guild Wars economy. People would prefer using shops than in-town trading through chat. As of such, people who do not own a shop will have more difficulty selling items, and people who own shops would simply buy/offer to resell a player's item for a certain percentage/buy them for much lower prices. Therefore, the first few people to afford shops will keep getting richer. New shops would not be able to compete with the older shops, because they have reputation amongst players, and people will prefer going somewhere they know than searching through thousands of small shops with one or two items in them.
* A shop system could create scams with the concept of "reselling items", such as promising to pay someone back for the item once it is sold, ect. A directory would avoid the need for a 3rd party and eliminate possible scams.
* With shops, players will want customisation. A lot of it. Which means more coding for ANet, and more expenses in servers.
* A directory service is slightly more realistic than a shop system. A shop system involves an unlimited area filled with buildings and stalls.

; Why this is a good idea
* Offline trading means less time spamming in-town and more time playing the game.
* A directory is the simplest way of trading offline, and is the hardest exploit.

;Why it may not work out
* People could abuse of the advertisment service with "LF GF/BF/SEX PARTNER". This could be countered with a "Report Spam" button on all advertisements.
* Scammers could post ads and make something's price much higher than it really is through Shill Bidding. (View the "Ventari's F.A.Q." thread on the Guild Wars Guru site for more information). This could be countered with an "Unreasonable Price" button on all advertisements. (Comment from some1 else how DOES like the idea: This can also b done is WTS style selling, so this is not a reasonable reason 2 y it may not work.)

147.236.33.231: /* Broader name customization (Discussion) */

Broader name customization (Discussion)
In the extreme, it would be nice to allow more characters to be used in names, to allow characters of most any language. Numbers and underscores should also be possible, to enable greater diversity in names. One prob with underscores is that...You'd always get some so-and-so who would name their character "______________" which is annoying cause you dont know how many "_" they used, and would take ages to work out his name (i used 14 underscores btw). But we could just ignore them, or make sure they have to use at least SOME letters or numbers.

A slightly less overboard idea would be to simply scrap the requirement of a having last name. Accept single words as names, rather than forcing players to come up with a poor last name just to meet the more-than-one-word requirement. Or, allow a One word Minimum...and no maximum requirement so you could be called.. "Name" , "N A M E" or "Name Surname" as long as it fits in the character allowment...which i agree, needs to be increased from 19.

Yet another idea involves allowing players to rename their characters. To offset the possible abuse of this, make it possible to easily identify a particular account using a character's name. Or at least, provide a mechanism for a limited form of character renaming.

; Why this is a good idea
*Allows players to use names in their preferred languages.
*Makes it easier for players who created a character for one purpose, and then wanted to rename it to reflect flavor changes for their character.
*Single-word names is a norm in many other games and is not much different from two-word names, except being more flexible.

;Why it may not work out
*Will make it difficult for other players to type out names written in languages they don't recognize.
*Will make it possible for very weird and unrealistic names that combine symbols and numbers.
*More difficult to weed out offensive names or names that suggests offensiveness.
*More Characters named 548jfeh8092hd or something like that.
*Cause 'X Sexy Devil X' is way more than enough XD
