Weapon/Spell interation (Discussion)
I think that there should be spells for temporarily modding your equipment, like having a spell that adds fire damage temprarily. It would help to be able to adapt to more situations without going through a complete equipment revamp. For it to have more effect, you could have monsters more susceptible/resilient to certain kinds of damage. You could also have be items, where you buy items that can do that, and are in use for a period of time. Lavaflow900 03:16, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

; Why this is a good idea
* allows better adaptation to different enemies

;Why it may not work out
* could be misused
* Better adaptation to enemies could make the weapons over powered
* What do you call preparations and enchants like strength of honor or spells like splinter weapon? Also for the monsters- all servants of abbadon take 2x damage from holy... and the enemies in Hell's Precipace and cold... and some creatures are "not fleshy" and thus resistant to bleeding etc...

Family Names (Discussion)
It will be good that all the characters in one account to share a "family name" and a character name should be made of "name" and "family name". Nowadays, players give their characters a lot of stupid names and as someone said here, it is always necessary to open the guild roster or the friends list to see who is whispering you. Once a family name is set for all characters, the player will have to choose only a name. Family names should not be changeable during the game, but the name can have an option to change it if you don't like it.
Example of names "David The Great", Funky the Great" or "Miki Masmer", "Torry Masmer" or "Hill My See", "Ble My See".

; Why this is a good idea
* It is easy to recognize a player from his/her family name.
* Players will think to make family name that he likes best, not deleting characters in search of a "cool name".
* This family name could be added to Heroes' names, making them more personal.
* It's all good, but I think you SHOULD have an option to change the family name... Deleting all the chars to create a new family name...
* I practically did exactly this in GW1, Nephilimus and Swift each with 2 chars with that surname, so i think it could definitely work, and could be one of the last things added to the game so there is still plenty of time to do it *wink wink* ANet

;Why it may not work out
* Some players may get bored with the name and than have to delete all characters for creating a new family name.
* People can already do this voluntarily, forcing them to do it would not help anything.
* Removes naming flexibility.
* The suggestion on changing the family name may creat issues, especially in identifying scammers etc... but without that ability could easily lead to a character not liking their characters and having to remake them all.
<!-- The name of your idea --> (Discussion)
The secondary professions should add characteristics to the look of the primary professions. For example, take the look of a monk primary profession, but when it is paired with a necro secondary the monk could have a dark aura around it or glowing red eyes, or a warrior primary when paired with an elementist secondary could have wisps of fire emitting from it or chunks of ice frozen to the armor.

; Why this is a good idea
* This would add a visually pleasing element to the game.
* Would diversify the looks of profession combinations
* Relatively easy concept to add

;Why it may not work out
* More memory required to apply
* Some effects might slow game play and frame rate
* It might be easier to let players choose the visual effects for their characters, unrestricted by professions.
* Making 2nd profession impact character appearance will likely lead to player discontent as players are already restricted in the phsyical appearance of their character (limitations likely to be imposed with GW2) and losing the already established threshold of character appearance would likely be unwanted
* Problem because of easily changed secondary professions- character could sprout a mohawk(necro) from a shaved head(monk) or something.

Wouldn't It be nice if you could choose to be right or left handed rather then always being right handed? So I suggest that you should be able to choose weather or not you character is right or left handed.

; Why this is a good idea
* People don't have to be right handed.

*

Ambidexterous characters
Allow characters to equip a weapon or off-hand item in either hand as long as they don't put one in both. Characters with weapons in their left hands would use flipped animations.

;Why this is a good idea
*
;Why this may not work out
* Flipped animations may cause coding difficulties.
<!-- Reprogrammable AI for companions --> (Discussion)
Ragnarok Online has homunculi, which are essentially battle pets with spells. One of the best things about them, however, is that their AI can be programmed by the player using LUA. I think it would be pretty cool if companions in GW2 could also have their AI reprogrammed by the player.

; Why this is a good idea
* Programming is fun! :D
* Would be useful for soloing, tackling difficult monsters, or just getting through everyday grind. (Not that there's any grind in GW, ofc.)
* There will almost certainly be a sub-community of players who specialize in producing AI scripts and tutorials, so players who can't or won't program still have a means of customizing their companions' AI.
* Could introduce a whole new dimension to PvP.

;Why it may not work out
* Balance issues.
* If allowed in PvP, MAJOR balance issues. This could be solved by forcing a temporary revert to default AI in PvP settings, however.
* May be used for botting.
* Badly programmed companions may be irritating to party members, or could cause problems for passers-by. (I'm thinking a dumb companion that tries to kill monsters that are already being attacked by someone else, or following players around because it thinks they're a monster.)
* That sub-community of players making AI scripts would also include everybodies friends- the scammers!

What I had in mind for the game that alot players would like is special abilities.
What I mean by special abilities is flying, teleport, ride creatures, and other things that people might want. I have played games with the flying and riding creatures and they were fun. I also think that you should only have one special abilities. This way the game won't get to complicated.When creating a character, I think that you should pick the ablities

; Why this is a good idea
* More fun, You can go faster to different places, fight in the sky,and get over obstacles.
+ I'd love to race a buddy or two to a quest's destination, me sprinting insanely fast, my first friend flying and the other riding a mount. :D

;Why it may not work out
* To much memory, may cause bugs, may take away some fun of traveling.
* Players may get screwed by early decisions like picking a weak/unusefull power, and be forced to recreate their character or be less competitive.
Green Armor Collecting (Discussion)
Well, just like how at the end of every campaign there is one green item a person can pick of their choosing, why not do so for a single armor piece. Except they can be collected after beating mission bosses, unlocking elite dungeon chests, and/or completing the missions themselves. Towards the end of playing for those green armor pieces, people can have a full set of (customized) green armor - customization is meant like how regular armor is made currently by the player.

; Why this is a good idea
* Would match with green weapons/items.
* Gives an extra option to getting armor.

;Why it may not work out
* There is matter of setting attributes and upgrades on green armor, but other than that I can't see a problem.
* Would require some answers on implementation issues, but that should be possible. See discussion.
* Some players may later decide they wanted a different set of green armor, but if it is customized the only solution is to remake the character in question.
Special armor (Discussion)
Currently in Guild Wars there is only one way to obtain armor, through materials and gold. There should be Unique armor (which you cant obtain any other way) that you get from PvP or HARD quests. PvP armor could be obtained once a certain number of kills is obtained.

; Why this is a good idea
* Shows your in-game expertise.
* Its fun to showoff.
* I actually don't think the above are good reasons but I like this idea, it coincide with my other ideas of not needing one gold to obtain everything you need to play the game as in rewarding players for playing the game. I propose in the PvE aspect, maybe for defending your faction, like killing the dragons that is suppose to invade, no hard quest please, it will turn into a mindless grind. and the whole FoW DoA runs repeats.
* Promotes PvP play.

;Why it may not work out
* No reason why it wouldn't work, other than if the armors aren't that cool.
* PVP Armor Is Already Obtainable By Pressing J On A PvP Only Character, This Could Then Be Shipped To GW2.(I don't think thats quite what the poster is saying... more like special armor available after certain pvp achievements but on your pve characters, or armor styles unlocked on pvp characters after those achievements)
* They Would Have To Program Something Thats More Or Less Already Done.* Investing resources to please one part of the community (PvP) when the product (new armor skins) could be used by both PvE and PvP is just going to upset people needlessly.
