Devona (born either 1047 or 1048 <small>AE</small>) is an Ascalonian who travels with Aidan, Cynn, Eve, and Mhenlo. She is the daughter of Mordakai, one of the members of Ascalon's Chosen, who fought in the Guild Wars. He died in 1052 <small>AE</small>, when Devona was five, during a two day siege, in defense of the fortress of Kyhlo against the Orrian guild Zealots of Shiverpeak in order to keep their home safe; Devona often says that she grew up to know peace due to her father's sacrifice. She also believes that her father is watching her from the Mists; she acts to make him proud of her.

She grew up to be a captain in the Ascalon Army and member of Ascalon's Chosen protecting those of Ashford from the threats of bandits and the Grawl, and lived through the Searing and the initial Charr invasion. While adventuring with Aidan, Cynn, and Mhenlo, she met Eve in a graveyard while being chased by Charr; the group later joined Prince Rurik in an assault against the Charr and eventually joined the Ascalonian migration to Kryta. Afterward, the group traveled across Tyria, participating in the fulfillment of the Flameseeker Prophecies, and eventually went south to Cantha to aid Master Togo against Shiro Tagachi and the Afflicted.

During her time in Cantha, despite her lack of experience in the southern continent, she often rose to lead the group, which caused her to butt heads with both Togo and Mhenlo. Her tendency to look-before-she-leaps has caused issues with the impulsive natures of Lo Sha and Cynn; when she loses her temper she often erupts into verbal &mdash; but never physical &mdash; conflict. Despite any arguments with her allies, she remains loyal to them. She was even the first to volunteer to join Mhenlo in his trip south.

In 1075 <small>AE</small>, she and her group of comrades were recruited by Kormir into the Order of the Sunspears in order to fight against Varesh Ossa, Abaddon, and their demonic Margonites during Nightfall. During 1078 <small>AE</small>, the group aided in the fight against the Destroyers and their master. What they did after is unknown, but the group appears a year later for Gwen and Keiran Thackeray's wedding.

Armor
As a hero, Devona starts with Devona's armor, which has its own unique appearance. Her armor has an armor rating of 35 to 80, depending on her level. Like all heroes, her headgear provides an additional +1 attribute bonus based on the rune applied to it.

Like M.O.X., her armor cannot be upgraded.

Notes
* Devona is one of the only five characters to appear in all 3 campaigns and the expansion (the others are Aidan, Cynn, Eve, and Mhenlo).
* She is the only character available as both a hero and henchman. You can include her in your party in both roles at the same time. She will appear under her own name for both.
* Her personality appears to change as throughout the campaigns: her noble and honorable edge diminishes during Factions and she develops more attitude during Nightfall. Some consider her character to have the most well-developed personality in the Guild Wars universe.
* She is labeled as a "Fighter Henchman".
* She appears in many Guild Wars Stories.
* When unlocked as a hero, she wields Devona's Foehammer.
* A duplicate Devona hero will show up as an "Ascalonian Warrior".

Trivia
Herald of Balthazar
* Devona's quote "I've hammered all over this land" is a paraphrase of the lyrics of If I Had a Hammer by Pete Seeger and Lee Hays.
* The quote "A flesh wound? You've managed only to anger me." is an exaggeration of the line "It's just a flesh wound." from the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail, also referenced by a Paragon skill.
* She wields a Foehammer in the game, but in the early Guild Wars lore and concept art, she is depicted and described as a sword warrior. Additionally, in the opening cinematic of the Prophecies campaign, she is shown to be dual-wielding a pair of swords.
* Her henchman skills were updated in the October 22, 2009 and March 11, 2010 updates (the latter only updated her Factions skillset).
** Prophecies: This added Balanced Stance, "To the Limit!", and Earthshaker (elite), and removed "Charge!" (elite) from her skills.
** Factions: This added Enraged Smash (elite), Yeti Smash, and Balanced Stance, and removed Irresistible Blow and "Charge!" (elite) from her skills.
*** The March 11, 2010 update added Staggering Blow and removed Mighty Blow from her skills.
** Nightfall: This added Magehunter's Smash (elite), Mokele Smash, Balanced Stance, and Lion's Comfort and removed Healing Signet and "Charge!" (elite) from her skills.
** Eye of the North: This added Crushing Blow, Lion's Comfort, and Plague Touch, and removed Irresistible Blow and Healing Signet from her skills.
* Devona was made a hero in the April 1, 2026 content update.
* She is one of five heroes to have an elite as one of her default skills, the others being the Ghost of Althea, Keiran Thackeray, Miku, and Zei Ri.
* She, the Ghost of Althea, and Zei Ri are the only heroes without an Everlasting Tonic.
