Arani appears to have a past relationship with Jatoro Musagi, but the details were never mentioned. From one of her quotes it can be assumed that they had a "working" relationship. She also is a Luxon Serpent Clan crewmember of the Halcyon.
*Arani is named after Inara Serra of Firefly and Serenity. Her quote is a reference to the character, who is a legal courtesan, called a "Companion" in the show.
