According to lore provided to Asian websites, Cardone was the home village of Desmina that had once exiled her. After spreading the teachings of Grenth, she eventually returned to Cardone and settled in the town, building a temple to Grenth in a cemetery. Some time later, barbarians outnumbering the village were threatening to invade the village. Desmina, still seeking revenge, was planning to curse them but Grenth spoke to her, telling her to help them so that they would listen to his teachings. Obeying, an army of undead left the cemetary and slaughtered the invaders and saved Cardone from destruction, and Cardone in turn became the celebrated birthplace of necromancers.

Notes
* It is unclear whether Cardone can be assumed canon, as only some parts of Asian promotional lore for Abaddon was confirmed later in Guild Wars 2.
