Dhuum's Covenant
“Swear an oath to the old God of Death. You'll bear the mark of the unfallen, but should you die[sic] Dhuum will come for his penance.
— In-game description
Dhuum's Covenant is a challenging, optional game mode currently in Beta testing, added as part of Guild Wars Reforged. This mode is focused on survival, tasking players with completing the game without dying. Characters created with Dhuum's Covenant may continue to be played after death, but failing the covenant will result in participation being removed.
New characters can opt into Dhuum’s Covenant during character creation. At a Shrine to Godly Accoutrements, existing characters can opt out of it or, provided they haven't accrued any deaths, into it.
Features
Dhuum’s Covenant introduces a high-risk, prestige-based challenge that persists throughout the game.
General
- A small badge (
) is displayed next to the character’s name while the covenant remains unbroken. - The covenant is permanently broken upon the character’s first death. This includes the PvP battle that can occur when you leave Pre-Searing.
- Characters who lose the covenant may continue playing normally, but without the badge.
Titles
- Any title ranks earned while the covenant is active will display the Dhuum’s Covenant badge in the Hero panel.
- If the covenant is broken, previously earned title ranks retain the badge.
- Any future title ranks earned after losing the covenant will no longer display the badge.
Notes
- Like with the Survivor title, some deaths do not break your covenant. See types of deaths for specifics.
- Access to the beta version of Dhuum's Covenant was added as part of the December 18th, 2025 update.
- Upon failing Dhuum's Covenant, Dhuum rises out of the ground, killing the player and applying Dhuum's Covenant Broken to them, and the following message is displayed to every player in the party:
- "<Character name> has fallen, betraying their oath to Dhuum. Their mark of the unfallen has been permanently lost."
Trivia
- When the mode was first added, the Dhuum's Covenant icon was green. The January 28, 2026 game update changed it to gray.
