View source for Disable

To disable a skill is to make that skill unavailable for a time, as if it were recharging. This resource denial is a vital part of shutdown playstyles.

Game mechanics
* Some skills can cause your foes' skills, your own other skills, or themselves to be disabled for a set duration.
* A disabled skill is unavailable in the same way as a recharging skill, except that effects that reduce or increase recharge time don't affect the disabled duration.
** An effect that instantly recharges your skills will also recharge disabled skills.
** If an interrupted or otherwise already recharging skill gets disabled, those durations don't add together unless the disabling effect states otherwise.
* If your pet dies, your skills are disabled for 10 seconds based on your Beast Mastery rank. This doesn't happen in PvP arenas where you don't suffer Death Penalty, in pre-searing Ascalon, and if you are not a ranger and only temporarily have access to a pet until you decide on your secondary profession.
* All PvE-only skills are permanently disabled in PvP arenas.
