Walkthrough

It is advised to bring a full party, as well as skills and weapons dealing holy damage. This quest can be difficult with henchmen and not enough firepower, as the spawning rate of the Furious Ghosts is high and they attack from various angles, making AoE spells less effective. The henchmen are also quite frail meaning that keeping them alive for the pyre part can be tedious.

Follow the quest marker after entering the area (the left path is a dead end anyway). Walk towards the three pyres indicated on the map. To ignite a pyre, simply stand close to it (a charging bar will appear) until the quest updates and flames appear; no particular item is needed.

Several Furious Ghosts will keep spawning and run towards the pyre until it is ignited. The rate at which the bar progresses depends on the difference between the number of party members in range minus the number of foes.

Blunted, Fractured, and Withered Spirits are encountered on the path. They do not have to be defeated and, unlike the Furious Ghosts, will not respawn.

Once all three pyres are ignited, return to Ghost of Althea to accept the reward.

Dialogue

Initial dialogue

Ghost of Althea
"I can hear the cries of so many aggrieved spirits, lost like myself until very recently. They call out for help from the very ground beneath our feet.
This war has stolen countless lives. Many of the fallen were not soldiers, but regular people who sought only to live regular existences. To raise families and pursue passions. To be happy, to be safe. The Searing and the war that followed have torn asunder so many dreams.
Many of these spirits retreated underground, to the place the living now call the Tunnels of the Forsaken. There the spirits wander, malcontent and desperate for a way to escape the scorched battlefields they once knew as home.
Will you aid me in granting those spirits peace and passage from this wicked world?"
Yes Accept: "I will help calm the spirits of the dead."
No Decline: "I'm needed on the warfront."
Ask Ask: "I was but one of countless victims whose life was stolen by the violent ambitions of Charr and man. I hear the voices of so many crying out from the earth itself. I implore you: guide these spirits towards the peace they deserve!"

Intermediate dialogue

After igniting the third pyre
Ghost of Althea: "I sense the fear and pain in this area lifting... Come speak with me over here."

Reward dialogue

Ghost of Althea
"You have done a great service to these poor spirits. May they find peaceful passage to the Mists.
For all the dead fallen victim to this war, there are as many living refugees yet clinging to hope. While Prince Rurik and King Adelbern feud over military tactics and politics, many Ascalonians seek only to carve out a place beyond the violence of war, where families can be safe, where lives can be lived rather than sacrificed.
I venture to say that these departed spirits have done us a service in turn. For they have led us here, to this ancient village. We shall make of this place a haven for our brothers and sisters, living and dead, in need of a place to lay their heads.
I hope you'll return and visit us, friend."

Dialogue after accepting reward

Ghost of Althea
"These tunnels provide a haven from the war above. For now, I will do what I can to help these people carve out a living.
We are expecting a shipment of supplies that has not yet arrived. If you're traveling that way, can you check in with Kopp the Quick in Piken Square and see when we can expect those supplies?"
