Installation notes

Extract the downloaded archive into the directory /extensions/CheckUser/ and run the install.php on command line (with php install.php) to update the database. Then add the following line to /LocalSettings.php:

require_once( "$IP/extensions/CheckUser/CheckUser.php" );

Reason for the request

The extension helps to identify users and especially sock accounts to solve conflicts with policies and block evasions.

What else uses it

The CheckUser extension is used on a lot different wikis, including the whole WikiMedia farm.
