The Lieutenant's Insignia is a warrior-specific upgrade component that reduces the duration of hexes cast on you, but causes you to deal less damage and suffer a reduction in armor rating. The damage reduction applies to all types of damage you deal, but the armor penalty only applies to the piece to which it is applied.

Notes

  • Since the placement of this insignia only affects which location suffers the -20 armor penalty, you should use it on the hands, feet, or head, each of which has only a 12.5% chance of being struck (resulting in roughly 5% more damage on average).
  • Unlike most other insignias, this one is only found on rare Salvage items, not uncommon or common ones.[[verification requested]]

Trivia

  • Originally, before the introduction of insignias under the old armor bonus system, this bonus was only available in Prophecies for warrior characters with access to Henge of Denravi, where a Lieutenant's Helm (with an armor level of 60) could be crafted by Alemeth for 400Gold, 8Iron Ingot(s), 2Bolt(s) of Silk.[verification requested]
    • Unlike other inherent armor bonuses, this one was not available anywhere else, and thus could not be obtained at the maximum armor level of 80.
      • This is likely the reason for the Armor -20 penalty on top of the 5% damage reduction.
    • The May 24, 2007 update changed inherent armor bonuses for Prophecies and Factions armor as well, and made salvageable insignias available for every campaign.
