Forsaken Tunnels is a hidden dungeon found in Pre-Searing Ascalon. The entrance lies within The Northlands, north of Piken Square, and can only be entered by teams that have at least one person who has completed A Bastion In the North. The area is inhabited by hostile Charr forces and contains several branching tunnels filled with enemies and environmental hazards.

Dialogue
Approaching the Dungeon Lock while a quest is active or the party is not in
Reforged Mode:
- <Party leader>: "Looks like we don't have access. Did someone forget to put on their Reforged Badge?"
Notes
- While the initial quest Long Thought Forgotten takes you to the entrance to the east of the Northlands, completing that quest opens up the west entrance, just north-east of Piken Square behind the charr encampment.
- Because this area is mechanically part of the Depths of Tyria, the Vanguard Initiate and Reforged Mode effects are not applied.
- Like in pre-Searing Ascalon, however, party members do not suffer Death Penalty, and enemies have reduced health in Reforged Mode.
- Progress through this dungeon depends on multiple quests:
- The dungeon cannot be entered if any party members have Across the Wall or A Bastion In the North active in their quest log.
- If no party members have Charr in the Tunnels or The Scourge Beneath, or if any party member has Long Thought Forgotten, the party cannot advance to the second level.
- If no party members have The Scourge Beneath, or if any party member has Charr in the Tunnels, the party cannot advance to the third level.
- Quest spawns will not appear if any member of the party is not in Reforged Mode. This prevents access to levels two and three, since Wyle Brimscourge will not spawn.
- If every member of the party who has The Scourge Beneath leaves after reaching level 2 of the dungeon, remaining players can still fight Maz Scourgeheart and spawn the reward chest.
- The presence, level, and skills of some Charr foes in the dungeon scale with that of the lowest-leveled player in the party:
Party level Additional charr Maz Scourgeheart 1-9 None 12 10-11 10 14 12-13 12 16 14-15 14 18 16-17 16 20 18-20 18 22
- If any party member has Long Thought Forgotten, Charr in the Tunnels, or the first-time version of The Scourge Beneath in their quest log, or if any party member is not in
Reforged Mode, the party level is set to 1-9. - If Devona is present in the party as a hero, her level does not influence the party level.
- Similar to Vanguard quest foes, these Charr do not drop any loot, except for Maz Scourgeheart.
- The rewards dropped by Maz's Chest are improved when higher-level foes are present.
- Similarly, the size of the chest also increases.
- If any party member has Long Thought Forgotten, Charr in the Tunnels, or the first-time version of The Scourge Beneath in their quest log, or if any party member is not in
- Walking over the patches of blue, crystalline ground will inflict the Crippled condition for 15 seconds and the Dazed condition for 20 seconds. This environment effect affects all allies, including pets and owned minions, but does not affect any foes.
- The plants and bandits are hostile towards all other creature types, including each other.
- No Locked Chests or Hidden Stashes spawn inside the dungeon.
Trivia
- This dungeon was added to the game with the April 1st, 2026 update.
- This is the only location accessible before the Searing where rare or perfect weapons will drop, and the only place in Prophecies where inscribable weapons will drop.
- When the dungeon was first released, Maz's Chest could drop uninscribable rare weapons with inherent modifiers. These were subsequently removed and replaced with inscribable drops, but an unknown number of uninscribable rare weapons still exist in the hands of players in pre-Searing Ascalon.
- Although it is part of the Depths of Tyria, the dungeon plays the same soundtrack as surface explorable areas in pre-Searing Ascalon.
