Wintersday 2010

As the days grow short, Tyria prepares for the new year. Decorations pop up around town, and holiday vendors sell seasonal treats. The crisp air carries the scent of gingerbread and peppermint—and the occasional flying snowball! Not everything is nog and joy. Again, the gods Dwayna and Grenth clash over who will control the weather during the coming months. This year, however, Balthazar has pledged his support to the followers of Grenth. Their united purpose: a chilly period of mortal reflection. In response, Melandru has joined forces with Dwayna to preserve the seasonal gaiety and bring on an early spring. Pick a side, and celebrate the season. Wintersday is here!

Halloween 2010

This time of year, when fear holds sway
And Mad King Thorn comes out to play,
His trusty servants hope and pray
That Halloween is here to stay.
You’ll get a strange thing from the king
And stranger still from candy,
Beware the pain that bad jokes bring,
And keep your weapons handy.
An ancient evil stains the land,
It reaches from the interior,
The grasp of doom's cold, clammy hand:
Could Tyria get any eerier?

Guild Battle Mechanics

For more information on these changes, please see the Developer Updates page.

  • The Bodyguard no longer uses Oath of Protection.
  • The Guild Lord now uses Entourage: "For 15 seconds, the Guild Lord is shielded by his guards. He takes no more than 30 damage from each attack or skill and takes 30 less damage each second. This skill can only be used if there are more defending NPCs than attackers."
  • Aggressiveness calculations now account for Entourage and effects that cause missed attacks. As always, stacking defensive effects on a Guild Lord is viewed as a sign that your opponent is being aggressive. In Guild Battles where neither Guild Lord is killed, the team displaying more aggressiveness wins.
