Walkthrough
Exit Piken Square through the northern gate and head northeast until you reach a bridge leading north, then loop around on the west side through some Charr groups and pass under the same bridge. Continue east and a little bit north, then turn southeast across another bridge, and you will come to a Charr campsite. Alternatively, you can reach the campsite by crossing the large southeastern bridge near Piken Square, then following the northern cliff and passing through a Charr-infested ruin, continuing a little further north on the other side. Just to the north of the campsite along a dirt path, you will find a small cave entrance nestled behind a tree and guarded by a lone Cave Elemental. Within that cave is an entrance to the Forsaken Tunnels.
Enter the dungeon and make your way south, defeating enemies along the path. When you reach an oakheart grove lit by blue wisps, your party leader will remark on a patch of blue, crystalline ground. Patches like this are scattered throughout the dungeon and inflict the Crippled and Dazed conditions if stepped on, so be careful to avoid them while you are in danger. Once you reach the southern wall, turn west and you will come to a large area with numerous grawl and some Charr, as well as a Dungeon Lock. Make sure to go relatively close to the lock so that objective 3 updates properly, otherwise you'll need backtrack later. You can avoid most of these enemies if you turn sharply to the north and cross the crystalline ground under a Titan effigy, but make sure that you approach close enough to trigger your character's dialogue.
Continue north along the route towards the quest marker. You will have to defeat or run past one group of four Charr similar to those in the Northlands; be aware that Vanguard Initiate does not function in the dungeon, so you may have less armor than you are used to. At the top of the winding path, you will find a lever which you can pull to open the exit leading back into the Northlands. Make sure the quest is listed as complete in your quest log before you leave; you can then map travel directly back to Piken Square to claim the reward from Adept Mullenix.

Dialogue
Initial dialogue
- Adept Mullenix
- "May I bend your ear for a moment? In my studies, I've come across evidence of ruins very near here. In fact, I believe Piken Square may have been built atop an ancient settlement.
- Don't worry, I have more than a history lesson in mind. It's why I've come to this dangerous place. I mean to discover these ruins myself. Unfortunately, the Northlands are teeming with Charr and other aggressors. Will you journey north of here and see if you can find an entrance to these ruins?
- Should you find a way below ground, scout out the area, and report your findings to me. Perhaps the thrill of discovery and historical advancement is not enough of a lure for you? Fear not, I shall make it worth your while."
Intermediate dialogue
Upon reaching the crystalline ground in the Oakhearts' grove:
- <Party leader>: "What sort of strange magic is this? I should tread lightly."
Near the Dungeon Lock:
- <Party leader>: "Beyond this gate the tunnels must go deeper still. I should return later."
At the exit gate:
- <Party leader>: "I can hear birdsong. There must be another way out nearby."
Reward dialogue
- Adept Mullenix
- "So my calculations were correct. Incredible to think these tunnels have been hidden beneath our noses for so long. The door you opened is just outside Piken's gate. I'm going to head to the tunnels myself and continue my investigation.
- Thank you for your help, fellow seeker of knowledge. I suspect there's much yet to uncover within those tunnels."
Notes
- Although this quest can be acquired without
Reforged Mode enabled, the quest objectives and dialogue will not progress while any member of the party is not in Reforged Mode.
- Adding a player without Reforged Mode to the party will prevent enemies from spawning in the northern part of the Northlands, making it significantly easier to reach the Forsaken Tunnels. The quest can still be completed if all players without Reforged Mode log out or map travel away before entering the dungeon.
- The Forsaken Tunnels cannot be entered if either Across the Wall or A Bastion In the North is active in the map.
- Along with some lower level foes, foes here are level 6-8, and never more than 4 in a group.
Trivia
- This quest was added to the game with the April 1st, 2026 update.
